New environment, new formulas

There's a phrase, "We're not facing an era of change, but a change of era," that I think perfectly describes the current situation. Its implications are enormous, and we're only just beginning to glimpse the first of them. No one doubts that we're moving toward an environment where attracting and managing talent better than the competition will determine whether or not companies survive.

Some business owners already understand this, but their current situation and/or uncertainty about the future makes it inadvisable to burden their fixed cost structure with new high-level personnel. This is despite being well aware of the need to strengthen the management of certain areas of their company, to undertake new projects, or to desire the necessary reinvention and transformation of their business.

El new environment It forces us to find new formulas We are now approaching challenges and problems differently. One example of this new approach is the role of the "Interim Manager" (IM), which I will explain today.

El “Interim Manager” (IM) An executive (with extensive knowledge and experience) provides temporary services to an organization. Therefore, an IM (Individual Manager) embodies three characteristics: specialization, experience, and temporary nature. It's a "talent injection" that doesn't create fixed costs or future commitments, is accessible, and allows companies to tackle new projects or challenging situations with resources they wouldn't otherwise have.

There are IMs for all areas (each with their own knowledge profile) and some typical situations in which they are required are: new projects, sudden losses (illness, death, layoffs, terminations), restructurings and reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, startups, various crisis situations.

Like consultants, they bring fresh perspectives based on their knowledge of different organizations and corporate cultures. Are Interim Managers, therefore, a type of consultant? Absolutely not. The difference lies in the fact that Interim Managers execute actions; they "lead and get things done." They don't just analyze, diagnose, and design an action plan; they also implement it.

There's no doubt that interim management is a new way to tackle challenges and find different solutions. Don't forget that this option is available when you need a temporary talent boost.
