Conference held at UEMC, with the participation of EFCL and Interim Spain.

Nearly 70 people packed the graduation hall of the Miguel de Cervantes European University (UEMC) last Thursday, March 26, to attend the conference “Interim Management in Family Businesses” (see program), in which they participated Interim Spain (Interim Management Association of Spain) y Family Business of Castile and Leon (EFCL).

The delegate of Interim Spain in Castile and León, Emilio del PradoDel Prado was able to briefly and concisely describe the general principles of interim management, a business strategy tool poised to become the ideal solution for the exceptional situations companies face. He emphasized that a permanent executive from outside the company, known as an "outsider," typically remains with a company for less than two years, leaving both parties feeling frustrated. This situation is normalized by hiring interim managers—professionals with extensive experience in leadership and management—who join the company externally to carry out an executive mission for a specific period and with a concrete objective.

All the concepts introduced by Del Prado were confirmed by the roundtable of interim managers, which reinforced the different values and characteristics of an interim mission. Additionally, the roundtable of companies contracting these services completed the discussion on the suitability of interim management for resolving exceptional situations.

The two round tables, representing supply and demand, showed the audience the enormous growth potential of “interim management” in the context of family businesses, the vast majority of companies in Spain.

The event was closed by Alfonso Jiménez, president of EFCL, who greeted those present and recounted how he turned a difficult situation to manage (absence of a manager) into a success story of “interim management” in his own company.
