Teaching how to ride a bicycle

When I was little, and that was quite a few years ago now, my group of friends from the neighborhood and I played everything together: soccer, bottle cap races, spinning tops, Olympics, etc. But then a significant change occurred in the group. Some of them started getting bikes, and if you didn't know how to ride, you were left behind. There was no other option but to learn if you wanted to keep up with everyone. And we can say that there were three main ways to do it: launch yourself down a hill again and again and hope you survived, use training wheels, or have someone run alongside you while holding the seat until you could walk on your own, sometimes even thinking they were still holding you.

And something very similar is happening now in the business world. Until very recently, companies didn't undergo major changes because neither did the business models they were based on. Everyone was more or less comfortable, and it was enough to make minor adjustments to stay in the game. But with the rise of the internet and especially with what's known as Web 2.0, these changes have become much more drastic. New business models have emerged, new ways for organizations to function, new ways of interacting with customers, and new players, all of which make it more necessary than ever to make changes, to be flexible, and even more importantly, to be willing to do so quickly and almost continuously. And just like when we learned to ride a bike, we usually make these changes in three ways:

  • We embarked on this change on our own, hoping to survive.
  • We are accompanied by third-party support and hope to overcome the fear and any bad habits acquired when they leave (if they eventually do).
  • We are accompanied by someone who runs alongside us and holds us until we can go on our own. This last method corresponds to the way an Interim Manager does it.

Un Interim manager It has already experienced change, knows how it feels, and understands the fears and uncertainties that exist before and during the process. But just like with a bicycle, it accompanies us, telling us what to do, advising us, encouraging us, telling us what to correct, supporting us when we need it most, lifting us up when we fall, and above all, teaching us. Because, as with a bicycle, we must not forget that the most important thing is that we are able to travel the path we have begun after the change on our own.

By the way, that's how I learned to Bicycling And I still remember the satisfaction I felt when I achieved it. Surely the same satisfaction my father felt when he saw that I had succeeded with his help.

Through the interim management It is possible to have executives available for a specific period of time related to a particular need. This contracting solution is widely implemented in the US and Europe as an alternative to permanent executive contracts.
